L'Ecume des Mers is moored off the peaceful island of Kerrera, opposite Oban on the west coast of Scotland. Known to many as the gateway to the Western Isles, this location provides access to some of the most picturesque cruising in the British Isles. Sailing against the backdrop of the Scottish highlands, this is an opportunity to discover parts of Scotland's coastline way off the beaten track. Within easy reach of Kerrera are many islands, including Mull, Rum, Eigg, Muck, Canna and Staffa (immortalised by Mendelssohn in "Fingal's Cave"). Further afield lie the Western Isles - The Uists, Eriskay, Benbecula, Harris and Lewis - and beyond is the lure of the remote islands of St Kilda. If time allows, the northwest coast of Ireland are but two days sailing away…. |
